Windows and Doors
The windows offered at the Authorised Points of Sale of the Oknaaluminiowe.pl program are available in various systems, with different fittings, accessories, and in multiple dimensions. The direction of opening is also a very important issue.
There are many factors that have to be considered at the designing stage when selecting the way of opening the windows. The location of the windows in the house is crucial here, as the windows on the ground floor will open differently from the windows located in the attic. The investors’ requirements concerning the functionality and usage of the windows also affect the way the windows are opened.
Oknaaluminiowe.pl sales chain offers windows and balcony doors in the following combinations:
Assembly of the threshold without separating the internal and external floor with an insulator is a common mistake. In such a case frost penetration may occur. An insulating element must always be placed under the threshold. Onaaluminowe.pl network offers a dedicated insulator, YAWALTERM, adjusted for installation under the threshold of doors based on systems: TM 74HI and TM 77HI. This insulator is available in two heights: 86 mm and 150 mm.

The Roto NT Designo hidden hinge mechanism is hidden under the wing’s sash and therefore invisible from the outside. Roto NT Designo hinges, after closing the window, hide in the space between the frame of the sash and the frame. The surface of the window is perfectly smooth and does not protrude from unnecessary elements on which dust and dirt would accumulate. Such a window is much easier to keep clean.

Aluminum “hot” and “cold” windows have different structures, thermal parameters, and applications.
Windows of cold profiles are made of aluminum. The profiles are constructed of a single chamber and have no thermal insulation, which is why their thermal parameters are at a low level. This type of system is used in the construction of internal walls, swing doors, serving sashes, display windows, and boxes.
In residential buildings, hot profiles are applied, out of which, in addition to standard windows, the following windows are manufactured: balcony windows, terraces, or winter gardens. The structure of “hot” windows is much more complex. Each profile, from which the window is constructed, is composed of two aluminum sections connected with thermal inserts made of plastic. Profiles are usually constructed of a minimum of three chambers, where each additional chamber improves their thermal properties. Such structure of the profile creates a thermal barrier, thanks to which windows have higher thermal insulation levels.

Class of resistance to burglary (RC) of windows and doors provides information on the time that a specific item will last when subjected to an attempted burglary, with specific force and tools applied. Anti-burglary windows and doors must be regarded as a whole complete structure. The individual components: protection glass panes or anti-burglary fittings will not guarantee that a window or any particular element of joinery is classified as a particular class. The property of anti-burglary resistance is composed of the design of a window and the material the window has been made of. Additionally, it is necessary to perform tests, that will prove to obtain a specific class of anti-burglary resistance. The anti-burglary windows and doors in classes from RC1 to RC3 are constructed to provide efficient protection against a casual burglar. It is assumed that such burglary attempts are a result of random opportunity and the burglars themselves do not know what profit they can expect. There is not much force applied and the tools in use are usually common tools for unhinging. The unprepared burglars want to avoid noise and excessive risk. The risk is growing with the amount of time necessary for access and varies with the class. A high level of resistance is the cause of the burglar’s failure. Anti-burglary windows and doors in resistance class from RC 4 to RC 6 are designed to withstand the attack of well-prepared burglars, including organized criminal groups, whose knowledge of protections used on building structures (windows, doors) is vast. The burglary attempts are planned in advance and the burglars know what profit to expect. The noise they make or the time necessary to achieve their aim are only secondary factors. They use strong power tools or tools with a drive. |
The maintenance of elements of aluminium structures should be carried out with frequency suitable for location. In non-aggressive environments (suburban areas) – at least twice per year. Maintenance of aluminium windows and doors purchased at our chainis carried out by the Authorised Fitters during paid yearly reviews. Such periodical reviews are the precondition for extending the guarantee up to 6 years.
The elements of aluminium joinery should be washed with water with addition of neutral reaction, pH of the washing solution should be 5,8. Wash with a sponge to avoid scratches on the protecting surface of the profile.

The most important criterion, which every buyer should consider, is the heat transfer coefficient of windows or doors (Uf), whose value should be as low as possible. In the coming year, the construction sector will face the gradual tightening of this criterion (from 2017 – Uf ≤1,1 W/m2K, and from 2021 Uf ≤0,9 W/m2K). This is why specialists from Yawal use innovative technologies and materials to design systems (e.g. TM 102HI) which even today meet the aforesaid requirements and allow for the production of windows with the highest level of thermal insulation (Uf from 0,4 W/m2K).
Standard partition walls lower the size of the room and often create „crowding” effect. An alternative to divide the room into zones maintaining the possibility of their liquidation is provided by accordion door. Structures may be realized as external with thermal insulation, using such profile as TM 74HI, and as internal “cold” partitions from such systems as PBI 40E and PBI 50N. Using rails with top carriage allows for folding the door independently of the type and condition of flooring. This universal solution also allows for creating accordion doors with bottom assembly – the guiding rail is installed below floor level.

Currently, children have no problem operating traditional windows. What is more, creators of modern technology often opt for comfort of use, which makes this process even easier. For this reason, in order to keep our children safe, it is worth installing a window system which prevents them from opening windows on their own.
Yawal’s specialists have equipped windows produced according to the company’s systems with special fittings thanks to which after turning the handle into a horizontal position, the window does not fully open but tilts. This solution means the reversal of standard opening options available with traditional windows. In order to fully open the window one has to turn the handle to a horizontal position.
However, if this level of safety measures is not sufficient, there is also the option of installing a special handle which is locked by insertion of a key. It does not affect the tilting option, but the window only fully opens after turning the key.

It is the effect of use of windows with very low heat transfer coefficient which prevents the inside part of insulated glass from heating. In specific thermal and humidity conditions outside the building, temperature of external glass pane may be lower than temperature of the dew point at which water vapour condensate.

Making decisions on the purchase of the entrance door to the house, one should consider that their function has changed over the years. The most important task is still providing protection for the inside part of the house against unauthorized persons and cold. However, the door is at present the visiting card of our house which is why it is very important that they integrate with the facade and windows.
Constructing the house, we may select between wooden, steel, or aluminum door. The latter has many qualities, which we may not be aware of when making the purchase.
RESISTANCE TO ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS
Wooden doors – regardless of their elegant appearance, are characterized by quite a large susceptibility to unfavorable atmospheric conditions. At least twice a year – during autumn and winter – their condition needs to be inspected, painting this kind of door periodically cannot be forgotten, and it has to be repeated every 4 to 8 years depending on whether the door is covered by transparent or opaque paint. On the other hand, a steel door may lose color when exposed to strong sunlight. The aluminum door does not require frequent maintenance or painting, such a door maintains its color for many years and is not susceptible to humidity.
It is common that distributors of wooden and steel doors recommend construction of the roofing, which is to protect the product against humidity and sun. Wood exposed to high temperature expands and deforms, whilst steel expands and distorts. A similar impact on these materials, causing a change in the leaf shape, has humidity. Additionally, humidity may lead to wooden door decaying. Aluminum doors “save” our money, as we do not have to construct any additional roofing, which also gives us the freedom of spatial arrangement.
NO SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION GUIDELINES
It is very common that the guarantee terms and conditions for wooden doors include the provision under which the guarantee is not valid if the leaf is in a distance of less than 100cm from the source of heating in the room, therefore use of a floor heating system is not permitted. The most efficient functioning of the door ensures the construction of an unheated porch. It results from the fact that large temperature differences influencing the inside and external part of the door may result in door deformations influencing their operation and causing loss of tightness or difficulty to close the door. The same is the case of the steel door, however, they return to their original form when exposure to heating or cooling ceases. Assembling the aluminum panel door Prestige, we may stop thinking about the impact of heat or cold, and freely select the room heating system according to our preferences. It results from the specialist construction of doors and the use of innovative systems of thermal separators, which have eliminated the effect of door deformation.
Aluminum doors can be assembled at each stage of our house construction, whilst wooden doors can only be assembled after plastering, placing the floors, and drying the rooms, otherwise large humidity will result in door deformations.
FULLY AUTOMATED
Intelligent system solutions which allow for access without a key are more and more popular in aluminum doors. There are many possible improvements that can be used, such as sensors making it possible for householders to open the door with the remote, video modules with service panels responsible for monitoring the situation outside the house, or movement sensors located near the exit. The technical novelty is a biometric access system with a fingerprint reader, thanks to which we may open the door with the touch of one finger.
SAFETY
An aluminum door, compared to a wooden one, ensures better safety already due to its structure only. It is however possible to enhance the safety by adding multi-point espagnolette or anti-burglary bolts assembled from the hinges side. If the door design assumes assembly of glazed elements, they are made of hardened glass.
ENERGY SAVING
Aluminum door prestige ensures warmth, safety, and comfort to householders. Very high levels of thermal insulation (Uf from 1.1 W/m2K, Uw from 0.7 W/m2K), acoustic insulation (Rw = 33 Db), and water tightness (Class 7A) are achieved thanks to the three-chamber structure of the profile, use of the state-to-art thermal separators, and range of internal and external gaskets. The prestige door, thanks to the environment-friendly and complex structure keep warmth inside during winter and provide pleasant cold in summer, which translates into lower costs of heating or air conditioning.

Wala uses stainless steel in grade AISI 304 or AISI 316 for the production of handles, depending on the customer’s order. Those grades are chromium-nickel steel, resistant to water, steam, and changeable weather conditions. The chemical composition and content of elements are different in the steel grades mentioned above, therefore their resistance to corrosion is also different.
AISI 316 steel contains an addition of molybdenum, which improves anti-corrosion properties and works perfectly in heavily contaminated or aggressive environments (industrial areas, maritime areas, swimming pools, and rooms with high temperatures and humidity).
Stainless steel is an easy-to-clean material, however, to make it last for years it is necessary to take care of proper usage and maintenance, this is particularly applicable to 304 grade. It is necessary to avoid strong surfactants (containing chlorides, acids, etc.) as well as sharp cleaning materials that may cause permanent damage to the surface.
Improper maintenance or lack of it may also cause the occurrence of rust resembling tarnish and discoloration of the product.
To remove dirt and deposits without leaving any residue we recommend using special agents dedicated to stainless steel maintenance, e.g. RASKO wool (to remove deposits) and 3M-Stainless Steel Cleaner&Polish foam (for steel maintenance).
Our offer includes 15 basic models of panel door TM 77HI Prestige, which may be modified by customizing to the customer’s needs.

Window shutters and windowsills

The installation of windows is not the end of our work. It is also necessary to install external windowsills which protect the house’s facade from sags and dampness. Softline aluminum windowsills can serve as a Smart and light solution to this problem. Their rounded shape provides an optimum water outlet from the facade’s plane and makes it impossible for dirt to accumulate.
Aluminum alloys, which windowsills are made of, allow for the use of various structures, colors, and painting effects e.g. resembling wood, thanks to which the look of an element can be matched with every architectural style, building’s facade, window, or external surrounding. Windowsills are additionally covered with a polyethylene film which protects the decorative surface from damage. Depending on users’ needs, there is freedom of selection of the sill’s width.
Softline aluminum windowsills are stiff and resistant to corrosion. They can be easily cleaned. This solution is completed with finishing elements and the shapes of fastening parts fitted to each type of window, made of material, wood, or aluminum so it does not cover water outlets. The ends of windowsills can be made from plastic or prefabricated aluminum.

Shutters can add a beautiful and functional finish to any window. Chosen to match the facade and Windows, they will highlight the individual style of any home.
External window shutters increase comfort by regulating air circulation, sun exposure, and temperature inside the rooms and by limiting the amount of noise which reaches the house. They also protect windows from harsh weather conditions and make it difficult for intruders to break into the house.
Aluminium shutters can last many years, are easy to clean, and there is no need for regular maintenance. They are an alternative to more expensive wooden shutters which are available on the market. Stiff and at the same time slender frame profiles make Yawal Eclipse shutters suitable for windows, terraces and balcony doors.
Yawal engineers have designed two types of shutters:
– with fixed fins allowing access of light at a certain angle,
– panel shutters, which upon closure achieve absolute darkness.
A rich offer of hinges and fittings allows the installation of shutters to window frames and to the wall. Closed shutters may constitute one plane with a facade, stand out, or be placed in a window cavity.
Colours
Maintenance of painted aluminum is not limited to cleaning and maintenance of the surface. It also includes other operations that may affect or damage the surface, such as transportation or fitting. The persons responsible for the condition of the surface during transportation and fitting are the Authorised Fitters and employees of the oknaaluminiowe.pl chain, who completed appropriate training.
What should be done to preserve the color for many years once the construction is completed?
First of all, it is necessary to carry out an appropriate maintenance treatment.
1. Before cleaning it is necessary to make sure that the cleaning agent we are planning to use will not change the color or damage the surface. We should perform a test on a small part of the surface.
2. All stains and dirt visible on the surface should be cleaned without delay.
3. If any loose dirt particles collect on painted surfaces it is necessary to remove the dirt with a sponge moistened with water.
4. If the above method fails, use a soft brush or delicate cloth and a neutral, mild detergent for use in households or for washing cars. Apply in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. Rinse the washed surfaces thoroughly with water.
5. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE (!) steel wool, scrapers, abrasive paper, liquids, or powders for scrubbing as they will make permanent scratches on the painted surfaces.
6. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE (!) strong solvents and alkaline or acidic cleaning agents.
7. It is not recommended to use hard water to clean the surfaces. The mineral content of hard water may cause discoloration and result in permanent damage.
8. Don’t clean painted elements if their surface is hot due to direct exposure to sunlight.
9. In case of coating with special effects (e.g. metallic, matt) avoid any rubbing or polishing. Depending on the type of effect the result may be discoloration, change of color, damage, or visible change of the shine on the surface.
CLEANING FREQUENCY
Depending on the conditions and environment where the surfaces are used, the external layer should be taken care of:
– in normal conditions – every 12 months
– in maritime areas and/or in an industrial environment – every 3 months
– in the case of swimming pools – every 3 months.
